Typecase, or “Lily” as we call her around the barn, is a 4-year-old chestnut mare who recently retired from racing. Her last race was in January, and her final workout was on April 16, 2026, making her eligible for the Retired Racehorse Project through both the 2026 and 2027 competition years.

Lily arrived at the Secretariat Center on May 8 and settled in immediately. Since her arrival, she has been very easy to handle and has shown a sweet, willing personality. She stands quietly for grooming and bathing, enjoys relaxing in her stall with the stall guard up, and has been excellent in turnout.

Lily is incredibly smart, eager to please, and approached her first ride with us on May 11 with a willing attitude and a great brain. We jumped her for the first time on May 19th, and she took to it very well. She stayed quiet in her gaits, soft in the bridle, and very willing. Her canter is very rhythmical, and after today, we could really see her doing well in a home with someone who enjoys jumping!

Typecase has all the qualities to make a fantastic partner for a junior or amateur in a program, while also being a very fun prospect for a professional to bring along. We believe she would excel as a show jumper, eventer, fox hunter, or Pony Club mount.
