Meet Gea, affectionately known as Nala around the barn – an 8-year-old Thoroughbred mare by Animal Kingdom out of Seek a Star. With an impressive 49 career starts, she came close to warhorse status on the track, but now she’s ready to shine in a second career. Despite her extensive race history, Nala is incredibly sweet and personable. She’s easy to handle, happy to hang out all day with her stall guard up, ties quietly in the crossties or in her stall, stands perfectly for the farrier, and is simple to bathe and groom. She is currently turned out with two other mares and gets along wonderfully with both.

Because of her successful racing career, Nala was given ample downtime before beginning her retraining, setting her up for long-term success. She’s fully up to date on dental and farrier care and has received both chiropractic and bodywork to support her comfort and overall well-being.

Under saddle, Nala is just beginning her retraining, but she’s already turning heads. She has three floaty, comfortable gaits and shows natural balance and rhythm. She’s smart, willing, and calm in every ride, taking each new experience in stride. She’s also easy to lunge and enjoys having a job without ever being hot or reactive.

Nala’s combination of athleticism, temperament, and heart makes her a versatile partner ready to go in whatever direction you choose. Whether you’re looking for your next jumper, dressage partner, event horse, or a kind companion to enjoy on the trails, Nala is your girl!
