Black Hills, affectionately known as Echo, is a striking 4-year-old gelding who raced twice before retiring due to being too slow. Since arriving at the Secretariat Center on October 29, Echo has been an absolute gem to work with. His flashy appearance is sure to get you noticed in any ring!

Echo is smart, brave, and incredibly loveable. He ties, stands quietly for the farrier, enjoys grooming, and is wonderful on the ground. Echo has proven himself to be intelligent, willing, and eager to please. He loves to go on hacks around the property, where he is happy to take the role of leader, or can also be the last one in the group. We have even hacked him out alone.

In the arena, he truly shines! He has been learning about contact and connection, and is proving just how smart and willing he is! Every day, he comes out and picks up right where we left off from the previous ride. Just recently, we introduced him to small jumps, and he LOVES it! He is such a natural and would make a fantastic hunter, or even an event horse, with his lovely movement under saddle and his natural ability to jump. His first time jumping a course, which you can see in the video posted below, he also offered up a very natural lead change after one of the jumps.
