Lexington, KY—The Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center (MMSC) is pleased to announce a new sponsorship for 2019 with Excel Equine, one of the few equine-only feed companies in the U.S.
Founded by Bluegrass horsemen David Williams and Kent Thomson and a proud member of the Kentucky Horse Council, Excel Equine prides itself on excellent equine nutrition that is a blend of art and science. The Excel Equine feed blends are crafted in a medication-free environment and specifically customized to enhance horses’ performance, appearance, temperament and overall health.
“Excel Equine’s values and horse-centric approach mirror our core beliefs and practices at the MMSC,” says MMSC Executive Director Susanna Thomas. “Their devotion to quality and commitment to excellence mirrors our ethos at the MMSC, and we believe that the many options of customized feed from Excel will be beneficial for all of our horses.”
Off-track Thoroughbreds are susceptible to dietary challenges ranging from ulcers to sugar sensitivities to a need for fat and protein. Excel Equine is able to provide feed blends to the adoptable OTTBs at the MMSC that address these challenges while they are in transition to a new lifestyle and career. Horses at the MMSC will also receive nutritional consultations and a range of supplements to support overall health, including Hoof Pro Plus, which works to develop the growth, strength and integrity of the hoof.
“After visiting the MMSC, we quickly realized how much they care for the well-being of every horse that comes through their barn door,” says Aubri Hostetter, Sales and Marketing Representative with Excel Equine. “And that perfectly aligns with Excel’s mission of feeding excellence to every horse it serves.”
The Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center (MMSC), founded in 2004, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) horse adoption program that is dedicated to reschooling and matching former racehorses to new homes in suitable second careers. Located in the world famous Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, our premier reschooling facility allows us to herald the athleticism of Thoroughbreds by teaching new skill sets to horses of all levels by using the Horse Center Reschooling Program, developed by MMSC Director Susanna Thomas.
