Do You Love Your Thoroughbred Contest

Love is in the air! Do you feel it? Family, friends, romance - all great relationships but at the MMSC, we want to focus on our favorite relationship – the one between a person and his/her Thoroughbred! If that's your favorite relationship too, show us and the world that special bond you share with your horse by entering our Do You Love Your Thoroughbred Contest! Submit a photo of you and your horse with a minimum donation of $5 (more is always appreciated) and be entered to win a free MMSC hat dipped in Maker’s Mark wax! Please read all the contest details below before submitting a photo.

  • Entries may be submitted from 12:00 pm Noon Thursday, Feb. 6 through 5:00 pm Thursday, Feb 13
  • Winners will be announced at noon on Friday, Feb. 14
  • Photos must be submitted via email at mmsecretariatcenter@gmail.com or via private message on the MMSC Facebook page
  • Photos must be in jpg format
  • Horses in the entered photos are required to be Thoroughbreds
  • Entries must include the photo to be entered, as well as the entrant’s full name, email address, home address, the horse’s pedigree, and the horse’s race record (if applicable)
  • A $5 minimum donation is required per photo to have a photo entered in the contest, although more is always appreciated!
  • Donations can be paid through PayPal by following this link: http://www.secretariatcenter.org/donate-to-mmsc/ and clicking the PayPal “Donate” button at the bottom of the page
  • All photos entered in the contest will be displayed in a photo album on Facebook
  • Judges will take into consideration three aspects of each entry – 1) quality of photo, including composition and clearness, 2) expression of horse and human, and 3) “cuteness factor”.
  • The winner will receive an MMSC baseball cap that has been dipped in Maker’s Mark wax, value of $25
  • 2nd and 3rd Place winners will receive an MMSC bracelet, value of $5
  • The judges panel will include:
    • Anna Whites – President of the Board of the MMSC and Attorney at Law
    • John Pohl – MMSC Board Member and Director of Sports and Equine Sales at the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau
    • Lisa Neely – MMSC Board Member and Senior Relationship Manager at The Proper Analysis Corporation
    • “Audience Review” (number of likes each photograph receives on Facebook)
  • The judging process will be as follows:
    • Each judge will pick their Top 5 photos and rank said photos from 1st Place to 5th Place
    • The Top 5 photos receiving the most likes will be ranked from 1st Place to 5th place based on number of likes received
    • Points will be assigned to each photo according to its rank on each list. Points assigned are as follows:
      • 1st Place = 5 points
      • 2nd Place = 4 points
      • 3rd Place = 3 points
      • 4th Place = 2 points
      • 5th Place = 1 point
    • Points will then be tallied up for each photo
    • The photo with the most points is the winner
    • In the event of a tie, MMSC Director Susanna Thomas will decide between the tied photos
