We had Black Friday and Cyber Monday and now it's here - #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back and celebrating generosity. No doubt your mailbox and inbox are getting clogged with holiday catalogs and annual giving requests. But if you care about what happens to Thoroughbreds after they have finished racing and you think the MMSC is worthy of your generosity, please consider helping us with a tax-deductible donation.
Because you're here on our website and you're an owner or breeder or work in the racing industry or just love Thoroughbreds, we know you care about what happens when a horse's racing days are over.
We do too at the Maker's Mark Secretariat Center, a premier non-profit reschooling facility for off-track Thoroughbreds located at the Kentucky Horse Park!
That's why every horse that comes into our program gets what it needs to embark on a new career, including:
- Veterinary care
- Alternative therapies
- Trail riding
- Horse showing
That is also why we are stringent about:
- Screening potential adopters for knowledge, ability, and resources to care for a horse
- Insisting approved adopters come to the MMSC to prove the fit is a good one
- Tracking MMSC horses for life
At the MMSC, we put the horses' needs first. This takes TIME and MONEY. Both are precious.
If you go to our Facebook page, or blog, or look around here on our website, you can follow all that we are doing to care for Thoroughbreds, to ready them for new careers, to teach them new skills, and to match them with adopters to that they go forth and be ambassadors for the breed in other equestrian sports.
Or better yet...come see for yourself! At the MMSC, we welcome all who champion the Thoroughbred.
